An Opportunity for You to be Part of the "2016 International Year of Pulses"

The Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) is a “not for profit” organisation which enjoys special status with multilateral bodies such as UN, FAO etc. We are presently working in cooperation with Governments and Pulse Industry Associations in all major pulse producing and consuming countries on a project to have 2016 declared the UN International Year of Pulses. If we are successful this will provide extraordinary opportunities for the development of new markets and expanded possibilities in existing markets. It will help leverage extensive additional research funding to increase production and lower input costs. It will add to the work already being done to establish and publicise the health and nutritional benefits of pulses and their contribution to global food security. In the lead up to this GPC is expending considerable resources from our limited reserves. We are respectfully asking for voluntary contributions from industry to bolster our funds and make sure we are able to achieve our goal.

Our work on the 2016 International Year of Pulses is guided by the following principles:

Honesty

GPC shall be clear in its communication and be upfront regarding its systems of governance. Donors shall be informed of the activities for the year, any changes in planned programmes related to the donor, and on outcomes.

Respect

We respect donors and beneficiaries and will do our utmost to co-ordinate activities among partners among the multiple actors involved the International Year.

Integrity

CICILS has good governance in place and will manage funds with care.

Empathy

We value individual privacy, freedom of choice, and diversity in all its forms. There will be activities by a variety of groups related to the International Year of Pulses.

Transparency

You will receive a quarterly newsletter on GPC International Year of Pulses activities and an annual report. As well, the final report on the outcomes of the Year will be made available in June 2017. You are welcome to make inquiries regarding the project and to ask for information about your files. All funders and in kind donors will be listed to the United Nations.

GPC is a member organisation and many members are engaged in helping with the International Year. You may be contacted by the secretariat of the organisation, the Board members, and national members. Emerging ag inc. is representing GPC regarding the International Year of Pulses and shall follow these principles we have set out.
